Emily García is associate professor of English and Latina/o & Latin American Studies at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. She has published in venues such as the journal Literature in the Early American Republic and the NYU Press collection The Latino Nineteenth Century. Her current book project, Novel Diplomacies: Literary and Cultural Interdependence Across the Americas, examines writing by Latin American and U.S. authors in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries to reveal the forms of cultural and aesthetic interdependence that shaped independence movements across the Americas.
