Ayendy Bonifacio is a PhD candidate in English and teaches first- and second-year writing and literature courses with themes of periodical culture and poetry. His research is highly interdisciplinary and is in dialogue with American literature and poetics, material culture, Latinx studies, and hemispheric studies. This intersection of fields is evident in his dissertation which investigates the work of popular nineteenth-century poets writing about race, gender, and class for widely circulated magazines, newspapers, and story papers.
