Vincent Basso, a doctoral candidate, focuses on American literary studies of the long 19th century with specializations in early American literature, literary theory, comics studies, critical ethnography (child welfare, mental health, and addiction), and poetry and poetics. His dissertation focuses on the aesthetics of environment and the literature and cultural politics of addiction in the Progressive era.
