Claudia Stokes is Professor and Chair of English at Trinity University. She is the author of Writers in Retrospect: The Rise of American Literary History, 1875-1910 (North Carolina, 2006) and The Altar at Home: Sentimental Literature and Nineteenth-Century American Religion (University of Pennsylvania, 2014). She is Communications Chair of C19 as well as Chair of the American Literature Society.  She is currently writing a book about unoriginality in nineteenth-century American literature.
