George Philip LeBourdais is a Doctoral Candidate (ABD) inthe Department of Art & Art History at Stanford University. He holds a BAfrom Middlebury College and an MA from Williams College and the Clark ArtInstitute. His research, writing, and curating have earned awards from theAndrew W. Mellon Foundation, the American Council of Learned Societies,and the Fulbright Scholar Program. At Stanford, he has served as a presidentand board member of the Environmental Humanities Project, aresearch group that explores issues of the environment and ecology broadlythrough debates, lectures, and film series.
