Dorri Beam is Associate Professor of English at Syracuse University. She is the author of Style, Gender, and Fantasy in Nineteenth-Century American Literature (Cambridge UP, 2010). Recent articles treating sexuality, aesthetics, and social theory have appeared in ESQ, American Literature’s Aesthetic Dimensions, Toward a Genealogy of Women and Transcendentalism, and Margaret Fuller’s Circles. She is currently at work on a new book entitled Sex and the Series: Social Form and Literary Experiment in the American "Age of Fourier."
