Dana Seitler

University of Toronto

Dana Seitler is Associate Professor of English at the University of Toronto. She is the author of Atavistic Tendencies: The Culture of Science in American Modernity (2008). She just completed her second book Lateral Aesthetics: Gender, Sexuality, and the Queer Politics of Art in Modern American Fiction (Fordham University Press, forthcoming). Her current project, Broken Life: Essays on Self-Destruction, focuses on the aesthetics of refusal and renunciation in suicide plots and addiction narratives in nineteenth-century fiction.
