Ross Posnock

Columbia University

Ross Posnock is Anna Garbedian Professor of the Humanities in the Department of English at Columbia University. His many books include The Trial of Curiosity: Henry James, William James and the Challenge of Modernity (Oxford 1991) and, most recently, Renunciation: Acts of Abandonment by Writers, Philosophers and Artists (Harvard 2016). From 1998 to 2017 he was series editor of Cambridge UP Studies in American Literature and Culture. In 2009 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is currently writing a book about American sophistication and the fear of art in the 1920s, 1950s and now.
