Dale Bauer is Professor of English at the University of Illinois. Her books include studies of Bakhtin and feminism, Edith Wharton’s politics, and, most recently, on Sex Expression and American Women Writers, 1860-1940 (UNC Press, 2009). Bauer is the editor of The Cambridge History of American Women’s Literature (2012). Her current project is on U.S. women’s serial fiction—from E.D.E.N. Southworth and Ann Stephens to Laura Jean Libbey.
