Erica Fretwell is Assistant Professor of English at the University at Albany, SUNY. She has published essays in J19 and American Literary History, and has essays forthcoming in Timelines of American Literature, The New Whitman, and The Cambridge Companion to Food and Literature. She is completing her book manuscript, “Sensitive Subjects,” which traces the "formalization" of the five senses across literary and scientific discourses. Her second project, "Out of Print," tells the story of how texture became a textual practice in the 19th century.
