Etta Madden is Professor of English at Missouri State University. In addition to editing a special issue on food for Utopian Studies, and the collection Eating in Eden: Food and American Utopias, she is the author of Bodies of Life: Shaker Literature and Literacies and numerous essays on pre-1900 American authors and religious communities that have appeared in Cambridge History of Religions in America, Spiritual and Visionary Communities, Early American Literature, Legacy, and Communal Societies.
