Stephen Beaudry, the manager of the Server, Network, and Telecom Infrastructure team, has been a member of Royal Roads University’s staff for over 15 years, and avidly involved with technology for over 25. Steve started with Royal Roads teaching network technologies, security, and systems administration, then eventually moved into the IT department. During his time managing that unit, he has led the team there through the successful implementation of their VoIP system, wireless network deployment, 10GB Ethernet core networking, and many other infrastructure projects. He is responsible for the virtualization of the data centre there, and has successfully made use of many open source technologies and commodity hardware to reduce the TCO of the data centre significantly, while maintaining higher availability and increasing performance.
