Shari Graydon is an award-winning author, educator and advocate. She founded and leads Informed Opinions, which is working amplify women’s voices for a more equitable Canada. She has taught communications, written commentary for many newspapers and CBC, and served as press secretary to a BC premier. For 10 years, she was also president of Media Watch, the national women’s organization. Shari received the Governor General's Award in Commemoration of the Persons' Case for her advocacy work on behalf of women in 2007 and was honoured as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by WXN. Her most recent book, OMG! What if I Really AM the Best Person? inspires women to speak up more often.

Generalizations fail to reflect the nuances of individual behavior, but recent brain research demonstrates that men and women may actually be wired to communicate differently. This is good news for work places that respect and support both styles, given the growing body of business research making clear the value of diversity when it comes to solving problems and addressing challenges.
Gender intelligent organizations that invest in inclusion increase the three E’s: engagement, empowerment and efficiency. Inclusive workplaces create collaborative environments that effectively support both men and women in contributing all their ideas and talent. In the process, they enhance their capacity to attract and retain talent, capitalize on the innovation that emerges when diverse perspectives are shared, and mirror the values of the customers and communities they serve.
Acknowledging gender communication biases is a critical first step, and ongoing awareness and practical skill development are key to implementing lasting change. Informed Opinions offers hands-on, experiential workshops designed to increase confidence and drive behavioural change.
