In this short session we will present a brief overview of recent work from the Association for Learning Technology (ALT). Focusing on rising to the challenges that we are facing across sectors as a community, we will explore key examples of peer-led professionalisation:
Starting with CMALT, ALT's portfolio-based accreditation scheme we will explore how professionalisation can empower individuals in different job roles and drive innovation in Learning Technology. We will share mappings to other frameworks including the UKPSF.
Using Open Badges and open practice as a second example we will consider some of the challenges we face when economic and political pressure meets funding cuts and rising learner expectations. Here we will share some of the highlights of the OER16: Open Culture conference in April in Edinburgh.
Building on this we will provide a short overview of ALT Member Groups across the UK and their work in establishing and scaling up peer-led activities to support Learning Technology across institutions.
