Recognising that there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to the effective use of new digital technologies for teaching and learning, the What Works & Why project sought to build digital literacy and engagement for students and teachers by exploring the question: “What works and why?” across three three higher level institutions
Over a six month period, teaching groups were identified as a basis for supporting sustainable academic development (Heinrich 2015), criteria based funding for TEL Innovation Projects was provided, and a continuing offering of CPD seminars and workshops relevant to all faculties was offered. Focusing on learning technologies in discipline specific contexts, this presentation will outline what technology enhanced learning approaches are currently being used in different contexts across the three participating institutions including headcams in Chemistry, live polls in Business, video and storytelling in Humanities, eportfolios in Education, and Lego Mindstorms in Computing. Students also offered video testimony to outline what TEL approaches worked for them as well as where they would like to see more technology integration and a snapshot of these will be shown. Re-useable and publicly shareable project outputs will be highlighted.
This brief Gasta session will feature multiple media to illustrate our findings to date of ‘what works and why’.
