The Library Association of Ireland (LAI) encourages the continued professional development and technological advancement of its members. Rudaí 23, a free online course was developed, researched, written and implemented in 2015 by a collaboration of eleven volunteers. These comprised members of the Western Regional Section of the LAI with additional information and education professionals. Rudaí 23 is based on the original 23 Things course, pioneered by Helene Blowers.
Rudaí 23 contains 23 learning modules which were made available via a blog over a 14 week period. For each of the 23 things, participants reviewed a learning component, completed a specific information literacy or technology enhanced task and wrote a reflective blog post.
The purpose of the course was to share expertise on learning 2.0 technologies and exchange knowledge amongst the information professional community. Participants were introduced to tools and networks to use in their institute and for professional development. The course also enabled participants to actively engage with their professional community.
185 information professionals registered for the course from 11 countries. Throughout the course, participants developed: blogs, podcasts, augmented reality campaigns, pinterest boards, screencasts, community shared documents, infographics, presentations, twitter accounts and LinkedIn accounts. They also participated in twitter chats, Google hangouts and a live Hangout-on-air. The learning styles were experiential, collaborative and reflective with peer support made available from the Rudaí 23 team and community.
This interactive poster links to and highlights the learning outcomes and completed technology enhanced learning tasks of Rudaí 23 participants. It incorporates the tools that were used to deliver and project manage the course and demonstrates how current, free web technology can be used as a professional learning tool. The viewer can click on different sections and scan the embedded QR codes and Augmented Reality campaign on their smart phones.
