Digital Skills in Action is a National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning Technology Enhanced Week project for 2016. It aims to introduce the All Aboard digital skills framework to all five institutions and to develop a shared understanding of framework. This was done through local case studies or exemplars for staff and students across a range of disciplines and aimed to enhance digital skills for teaching and learning. The case studies were shared within and across institutions during the technology enhanced learning TEL week from 7-15 March 2016 and are available on the Digital Skills in Action Blackboard course site.
The paper focuses on the learning of the central project team, the issues that arose in the development of the case studies and the impact of the project on the institutional participants. This was the first teaching and learning project across the HEA Leinster Pillar 1 cluster. It was a collaboration of five very different institutions with different structures and resources. The range of disciplines and technologies explored in the case studies and the issues associated with project management are discussed.
The project required five different institutions to work together for teaching and learning and it increased communication and collaboration. We identified local participants and worked with them to develop the case studies. We worked locally and across the institutions to support the project.
Technology enhanced learning requires collaboration between different units within an organisation. The collaboration across institutions in this project informed and supported technology enhanced learning across the Dublin region.
