The timetabling of classes for a large and dispersed university with a global campus is complex. Academics often find themselves teaching in different locations around a city or county on the same day. So what happens if you find yourself scheduled to teach in two different locations that are 11,000km apart?
Brona Russell found she was already scheduled to teach a block release month in Singapore in January 2018 when she was asked to take over the teaching of a second-year option module called ‘Negotiations Strategy’ in Dublin. Posed with the problem of how to be in two places at the same time, Brona consulted with the UCD College of Business eLearning team to figure out how she could deliver both modules without compromising student learning.
This presentation will highlight the scheduling challenge of teaching in two different countries in the same semester. The presentation will explore the steps that were taken to deliver a successful blended learning module to the students of ‘Negotiation Strategies’. It will examine the consultation process and the learning technologies used to achieve the module aims. It will also explore Brona’s experience delivering the course and feedback she received from her students.
