Changes to crewing configurations in commercial planes are likely to emerge as a means of reducing operating costs. Distributed crewing, where one pilot is in the cockpit and one is on the ground could not only save money but enhance safety thorough remote operation of the aircraft from the ground. Understanding how pilots' behaviour would change in this configuration could help make the future flight deck safe, as well as enhance safety in current operations.
