Leadership and Management for Safety (L&MfS) is central to accident prevention in high-hazard industries. The UK nuclear industry Regulator requires Periodic Review. Whereas this tended to focus on engineering claims, the Regulator now explicitly requires similar attention to L&MfS – including Leadership, Decision-Making, Capable Organisation and Learning. This paper describes a current review programme, and discusses such factors as organizational and stakeholder demands, the process, and the need for agreed criteria, if a review is to be both valid and useful
