Abstract
In recent years, entrepreneurship has developed as a powerful tool for both economic and societal development. This has resulted in a dramatic growth in entrepreneurial education programmes, most notably at higher level. A new paradigm is evident in entrepreneurship education, moving the focus away from the conventional aspects of business plan development and new venture creation toward a personalised and contextualised entrepreneurial pedagogy for students. The concept of “entrepreneurial mindset” has emerged with a focus on developing life-long and life-wide entrepreneurial competences. Such competences will be relevant for all aspects of an individual’s life and will assist in navigating the ever changing, chaotic global environment of today. There have been continuing calls for the development of an entrepreneurial mindset amongst all members of society, particularly in disadvantaged communities. However, despite these calls there is limited evidence in the literature of research addressing this. This paper sets out to explore this importance societal question and outlines the innovative research planned to address this question.
