The recent widespread adoption of Human Capital Management software (HCM) systems, has brought to the fore the issue of the employees’ acceptance and actual usage of these systems. In this paper, we will present a behavioural model of task performance that, drawing upon the research on technology adoption (TAM) is meant to provide HR analysts a tool to assess the relative importance of factors affecting the task performance HCM systems ‘users and, as a result, to design effective interventions to improve it. The development of a behavioural model of adoption from the ‘HR analytics’ perspective, will also represent a valuable contribution to the advancement of the TAM research itself as it offers an implicit reply to the criticism that has been recently raised against TAM research, like its purported lack of actionable guidance.
