In crisis periods, belonging to a network could be a helpful in regeneration dynamics’ leverage. They help to address unexpected changes and more demanding commercial expectations during a crisis period while also preserving the balance between business and social. One of the main purposes of these networks is that they promote shared objectives through the promotion of social capital among their members. However, we can find different kind of networks of cooperatives, and cooperatives and non-cooperatives.
There are different models of cooperative networks with different approaches and organizations and structures. For instance, in the Basque Country some associations or group of firms sharing the cooperative principles have been developed. Among them MCG, and NER group. MCG is a new organizational paradigm based on a dual employment model wherein, apart from the cooperatives themselves, there are conventional companies dependent on the former MCG (Jones and Kalmi, 2012; Bakaikoa, et al., 2004). From this group, consultants, organizations, technological centers and a university have been created in the region, supporting and enhancing the cooperative principles in their activities. NER group is an association in which diverse organizations, united by the New Style of Relationships (NER), share experiences, synergies and knowledge; join forces to improve, advance, be more efficient, and get better results, and accompany each other on the path of profound cultural change entailed by this (NER) style. It is an association with a clear concern for Society, which wants to achieve a Just and Sustainable Human Development.
The aim of this study is to compare these two associations/networks (MCG and NER group) and identify similarities and differences between them and contrast the perceptions from the group perspective and the cooperative perspective.
