Session Abstract:
Cooperative education is not only one of the cooperative principles but is also globally accepted as an indispensable tool in achieving cooperative development and success. Despite its recognition by scholars, practitioners, policy makers and cooperative leaders, only limited light has been shed on recent developments, particularly from a comparative, international point of view. The proposed session seeks to start closing this knowledge gap by focusing on current innovative models of cooperative education. The invited, world-renown scholars and practitioners will present, analyze and discuss with the audience the pros and cons of different cooperative education and training models adopted in Europe and the USA. Emphasis will be given to the evolution of these models and the observed interrelationships between cooperative education, research and outreach.
Each 15-minute presentation by the invited speakers will be followed by a 5-minute discussion by the session organizer and a 20-minute open discussion with the audience. A designated colleague will keep notes of the session in order to summarize the key points discussed and provide a brief synopsis to the participants by the end of the conference.
