POSTER TOPIC 14-STAGE 4- MESO
The behavior of Labor Cooperative Societies (LCS) during the economic crisis (2008-2013) was different than expected, both in terms of number of companies and employment levels. This is evidenced by the results of an investigation presented in the book: “Libro Blanco de las Empresas de Participación de Trabajo de la Ciudad de Madrid: transitando por un periodo de crisis (2008-2013)”, which involved an analysis of official statistical data. The study focused on the city of Madrid, with comparisons with the entire Madrid province and the country. A comparison of Labor Cooperative Societies and conventional capitalist firms demonstrates that the level of resistance, in terms of loss of firms and jobs, was very different this time with regard to what was observed in previous crisis. In this sense, we propose various measures, based on a qualitative study, aimed at promoting both the constitution and consolidation of LCSs, in the light of the difficulties and barriers experienced for consolidation as well as the demands and needs faced by the promoters themselves.
