TOPIC 18-STAGE 5-MACRO.
Chile's economic growth has been called the "Chilean miracle" with macroeconomic figures showing high performance in recent decades, Chile has even been incorporated as an OECD member country. In this context, Chile has developed an institutionality that responds to a neoliberal development model, which despite its achievements today is questioned by leading politicians and civil society sectors.
In this scenario, the need to give the Social Economy an institutional framework to support its expansion and consolidation emerges in the national discussion. In this debate the cooperative movement is a key actor due to its trajectory and consolidation in different economic sectors, showing that a proposed democratic and inclusive economic development is possible and necessary.
This work shows the most important milestones that have occurred in Chile in recent years, both the institutional framework and the cooperative movement, thinking critically about their impact on the cooperative sector.
