This paper provides a set of methodologies that can be used to estimate changes in household income and relative income poverty at the district level during an intercensal period. The methodologies are applied to overcome data limitations due to the absence of spatially disaggregated household income data. We implement these methodologies using the example of districts in Ireland from 2006 to 2011. Both of these are census years but lengthy time lags in the availability of data for 2011 and the economic transformation during this intercensal period make this a useful example.
