This paper looks at the development of an excel based tool which allows the user the flexibility of applying their knowledge to the decision making process for either using the conventional method of drilling or an orbital milling method. This involves defining the conditions which the process would be carried out in, analysing factors connected with each drilling method and determining which was the best in any given scenario.
A system was developed using Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic Application (VBA) which looked at all factors connected with each drilling procedure and rated each factor. Each rating was then tallied together in the tool and showed which method was best in any given scenario.
