Relying on the Chinese data of 30 provinces and 35 large and medium-sized cities during the period 2003-2010, we analyze the relationship between local officials and environment pollution. We do empirical tests finding that in the other condition same situation, compared to the officials that come from other place, local promotion officials will lead to more environment pollution. Local officials who have work experience in the central government will lead to more environment pollution. To obtain a better and clean environment, we need to change economic growth pattern, reform the financial system and the political incentive system, and establish a market-oriented incentives to reduce emissions and a more stringent environment protection system.
