This interactive roundtable is designed for participants who wish to become familiar with the review processes and organizational structures of two Latino/a-themed journals: Diálogo and Chicana/Latina Studies: The Journal of MALCS.
Editors from each of these journals will speak to the respective backgrounds of their journals, delineate their organizational structures, and specify for prospective authors and attendees their submission, peer review, and revision processes, and respond to questions of all types, including how to become a peer reviewer or board member, how to convert a conference paper into a publishable article, and how to participate in special theme issues.

Abstract:
Chicana/Latina Studies is the flagship interdisciplinary peer-reviewed journal of Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social (MALCS), an organization dedicated to the representation and advancement of Chicana/Latinas and Indigenous women in higher education. In this presentation, the co-lead editors of the journal, now housed at Arizona State University, discuss how the journal “operationalizes” its feminist vision through its organizational structure, summer institutes, collaboration, writing workshops, pláticas, and review processes. As the journal enters its 17th year of publication, special attention will be given to the current challenges and publishing trends facing the journal and its constituency.
