This workshop, presented by three journal editors, will focus on the past, present, and future of publishing in Latina/o studies as we see it from the perspective of three important journals in the field: Aztlán, Centro Journal, and Latino Studies. We will also provide helpful information on our journals' submission and review process.
Among the issues discussed will be:
1) Mission of the journals and evolution over the years
2) Role played by each journal in the development of the fields of Chicana/o studies, Puerto Rican studies and Latina/o studies
3) Connections and tensions between national-origin studies, such as Chicana/o studies and Puerto Rican studies, and Latina/o studies, and how this impacts the mission of each journal
4) Politics and implications of publishing in Latina/o studies journals versus journals in traditional disciplines
5) Submission process and peer review process for each journal
6) Future directions for each journal
