Abstract: Studies and discussions of food systems, transnational social food movements, and the persistence and resilience of Mesoamerican ancestral knowledge provide a fertile ground for producing a decolonial political vision. This paper argues that one of the most important role that scholars can play in local communities is to publicly acknowledge the value of the knowledge these communities hold. This paper looks at the political potential of classrooms, community spaces and social media for creating a decolonial political project through activities such as sharing recipes, food stories, health struggles, remedios, and ancestral memories.
