Laura E. Pérez, Associate Professor, Department of Ethnic Studies, University of California, Berkeley, leperez@berkeley.edu Abstract. “‘Ero-Ideologies’: Where Art, Spirituality, and the Decolonial Cross.” Ero-Ideologies: Writings on Art, Politics, and Spirituality is the title of my new book, under contract with Duke University Press. For the purposes of this presentation, I want to introduce the concept of “ero-ideologies” and discuss the politics of its theorization, particularly how the Mayan theo-philosophy of In' Lakech, and other ancestral surviving philosophies, as well as marginalized psychologies, dismissed for their “spirituality,” structure and authorize a different kind of thinking-feeling practice, a practice I am to perform in this new project.
