Amy Hay stages updates the 19th century health seeking migrant: the paper, “Migrant Workers, Winter Texans: Migrant Agricultural Workers and Winter Medical Migrants,” examines the intersection of migrant agricultural workers returning to south Texas's Rio Grande Valley and a more privileged group of medical migrants - better known as "winter Texans" - who wintered in the mild climate. In the end, medical practice and funding structures favored the medical migrants, white winter Texans, rather than the long-term residents - Mexican American migrant workers.
