Isabel Millán's paper, "Provocative Children’s Literature & Their Unruly Authors/Illustrators," focuses on the canon of unconventional bilingual children’s texts produced by queer Chicana artist, illustrator, writer, and co-founder of Reflection Press, Maya Christina Gonzalez to address how narratives produced by children challenge ideas of what is generally considered to be “children’s literature” as well as how adults can encourage more queer and Chicanax/Latinx children to tell their stories. This panel brings these scholars together to share their work and ideas on how considerations of age can deepen our understandings of the diversity represented among U.S. Latinas and Latinos.
