Latina feminists have long deliberated our roles both in the academy and our relationship to the various communities and people with whom we work. This panel draws inspiration from the conference’s attention to the “meaning, place, and potential of Latina/o Studies to focus on Latina feminist ethnographic engagements in a range of spaces, communities, and questions and offers important insight that can "disrupt facile constructions of citizenship and belonging.”
This paper explores the experiences of young Latinas leadership experiences in their high school Junior Reserve Officer Training Programs and how stories of redemption structure their assessment and narratives of JROTC.
