This paper analyzes TransLatinx’s participation in sexual economies of labor in Chicago and how TransLatinx sex workers encounter compounded racialized, gendered, and sexualized forms of state violence via employment discrimination, police brutality, and deportation and reveals how transwomen’s involvement in racialized sexual economies of labor sometimes offers validation of their gender identities as well as a space around which to enact political organization and resistance.
