E-commerce has been successfully developed and implemented in various industries such as Amazon, Uber, and Airbnb etc. thus demonstrating the revolution of traditional businesses. These industries also demonstrate the challenges and barriers of implementing E-commerce strategy over time.  Barriers such as sales taxes that Amazon collects in an increasing number of states.    Barriers such as Uber’s legal conflicts with taxi license and employee or contractor benefits.

We study a new car dealership (as an example of traditional business) to investigate how factors of business and legal environments impacts the expansion of E-commerce in a specific industry. The findings provide managerial insights to business managers who are planning to adopt an E-commerce strategy for their new or existing business. The study also examines the unbalanced development of E-commerce in different industries and tries to facilitate the advance of E-commerce from legal and/or political perspectives.
