Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), besides its wide usage in biology and nanotechnology, has recently emerged as a promising biomaterial for photonics and optoelectronic applications. Here we provide a short overview of general properties of DNA biopolymer derived from natural sources and present our recent efforts toward the development and characterization of DNA biopolymer devices.
