VTT’s Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) tunable optical filter technology makes it possible to create small and cost-efficient microspectrometers and hyperspectral imagers for wavelengths from UV to thermal infrared. The technology is capable of addressing two parallel application drivers: 1) high performance, generated by large optical apertures and excellent customization capability for enabling novel demanding sensing applications, and 2) high-volume manufacturing scalability of
MEMS FPI processing to generating potential to reach a disruptive price point enabling completely new spectral sensor markets. Through continuous engagement with industry, these small sensors are finding their way into new applications and sensor products.
