Based on unedited film footage shot at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, this exploratory study uses Grounded Theory informed by Conversation Analysis and video ethnography to identify the language patterns of a team as it urgently works to redevelop a critical piece of technology that has unexpectedly failed. The language features associated with this team’s problem solving process are noted and compared with the literature.
