This presentation will describe The Nature of Americans, a study of nearly 12,000 adults, children, and parents from across the United States, co-led by the late Dr. Stephen Kellert. The presentation will detail how Steve conceived and initiated the work and share some of the results that were particularly important to him. These include findings about the diverse ways Americans value nature and barriers and facilitators to human connection with nature, particularly among children. We will conclude by sharing how the research is being translated into what Steve called “practical and implementable reality” across a variety of organizations and efforts.
