In June 2017, 11 giraffe were collared for the first time in Kenya, providing insights to the movement patterns of giraffe in the multi-use landscape of Laikipia County. This presentation highlights how movement data can be combined with traditional knowledge gathered through community interviews regarding giraffe presence through wet and dry seasons. Information from different knowledge systems will be described and used in relation to provide targeted recommendations for conservancy management and anti-poaching ranger teams.
