Jeremy Mawhood, EurErg, BSc (Hons), MSc, C.ErgHF, MIEHF, CMIOSH. After university and a diverse range of jobs including forklift driving, marquee tent erecting, coral reef research, building supplies management and computer programming, appointed as HM Factory Inspector with the Health and Safety Executive in 1987, enforcing risk control legislation in a wide range of sectors including manufacturing industries, construction, health service, airports, local authorities and diving. Followed by 3 years national HSE operational policy work on workplace transport, before transferring in 2003 to HM Railway Inspectorate. Since 2008 my work involves providing human factors advice and enforcement support nationally, to help ensure that equipment, procedures and systems are safe, make the most of human abilities, and take account of human limitations.
