This paper investigates the effect of IT investment on firm performance. Many firms seems to view IT as a supporting utility, while others consider it a valuable tool in firm success.  Do firms viewing IT as a tool for competitive advantage outperform firms that do not?  How is a firm’s IT investment measured?  How is a firm’s success measured?  How is the firm’s view of IT measured?  This paper attempts to provide answers to these questions and suggestions for future research.
