Software development is a critical process for organizations who wish to compete in a market that is increasingly dependent on information technology. Yet, despite the extensive investments in technology, software development projects are prone to cost overruns, missed deadlines, and lack of full functionality in the end-product. Organizations have moved to adopt agile software development methodologies in order to alleviate these problems. However, the intensive user-developer interaction required by such methodologies may represent a potential source of strain for information technology and information systems professionals. This study proposes to examine this potential strain from the perspective of person-environment fit.
