Advances in private cloud computing technologies are changing how educational institutions approach IT, but the cost of private clouds put the technology out of reach of many smaller schools, primarily technical schools and K-12. This project aims to reduce the cost to smaller schools by recycling outdated university equipment into a low cost private cloud based on Microsoft technologies. The design of the infrastructure is described and possible uses of the technology are examined, including infrastructure and platform as a service models.
