The Sociolinguistcs Symposia (SS) in the latest ten years reflect the vibrant Interdisciplinary integration in the era of globalization. This paper reviews the themes, the aims and the keynote speeches presented from SS17 to SS21,and adopts the social network analysis on the key words in the titles of the presenations to explore the integration mechanism. The results show that:
Externally, inter-disciplinary integration of sociolinguistics in the era of globalization occurs in the reconstructin of sociolinguistics scales at the physical, institutional and psychological levels. 1) Physically, language reflects and constitutes the reconstruction in time and space driven by globalization and urbanization. 2)Institutionally, language reflects and constitutes the reconstruction of social orders in the era of globalization. 3) Psychologically, language reflects and constitues the reflextivity of modern community.
Internally, inter-disciplinary integration is driven by interaction. 1) As sociolinguistic reseraches interact with the global social contexts, the existence of language and society is reviewed in the background of urbanization and migration. 2) As social factors interact with language factors at all levels, the traditional division between the sociolinguistic study of language and the sociolinguistic study of society becomes blurred. The macro and micro connections become a theme of focus. 3) As discipline development interacts with methodology, the research method in traditioanl social studies and linguistics studies get integrated.
The inter-disciplinary integration mechanism reflects two kinds of knowledge production: 1) to deepen the understanding of langauge by exploring the nature in various social contexts; and 2) to reconstruct knowledge by solving actual problems.
