     I researched the history of laws and social interpretations of sexual assault, and illustrated the evolution of change of these laws and understandings. I then discussed the implication of how these laws are adopted slowly, and how they are not often upheld, and how that contributes to misunderstandings of what consensual sex is. I then related these issues to an original formula that I created: C=R+P, or, the strength or validity of Consent is equal to Respect plus Power. This reflects the two variables I felt were most important in women gaining the necessary tools to participate in change for this critical issue.
