Intergenerational Learning: A Look into the Middlebury Community dives into the captured video and audio narratives of Middlebury community members and their individual stories of intergenerational learning. Intergenerational learning is defined as a learning partnership based on reciprocity and mutuality involving people of different ages where the generations work together to gain skills, values, and knowledge. Through my own personal story with intergenerational learning and the stories of 15 other individuals (and their relationships), I examine various questions of how intergenerational learning works. Is intergenerational learning more particularly common in a specific period of life? Are there different forms of learning within intergenerational learning? What creates and prevents these moments from occurring? The result is a short documentary that incorporates and comes to a conclusion on 6 main themes of skills, process and hierarchy of learning, culture, differences in views and values, influence of technology, and ‘words for the future'.
